Grades 7th-12th
Calvary Baptist students are taught in a traditional education philosophy
that has the Bible as the core component of its philosophical direction.
Bible classes and chapel are important parts of the school day.
Competent instruction in general sciences, and biology as well as advanced
instruction in biology, chemistry, and physics in a well-equipped room has
established a strong science department at CBS. Creationism and a proper
view of evolution, based on Scripture, are foundational elements in the
department.
CBS emphasizes basic math skills from the start, and in the high school
instruction in algebra, advanced math, and geometry is provided. A slate
of business-type math is offered in consumer math and accounting.
Francis Bacon said, "Reading maketh a full man; conference, a ready man;
and writing, an exact man." The language arts program at CBS strives to
prepare young people to assimilate good material and to communicate, through
speaking or writing, whatever is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, virtuous,
praiseworthy, and of good report (Philippians 4:8).
French is the foreign language taught in the high school at CBS.
The history department at CBS teaches U.S. history, state history, world
history, geography, and government from a Biblical world-view. Advanced
instruction is available in a social studies course known as "Understanding
the Times."
Extra-curricular opportunities at Calvary Baptist School include choir,
band, hand bells, yearbook, and interscholastic athletics. |
